Mealworms

2S have been observing the growth of mealworms. We have put some of our mealworms in the fridge and some have been left out in the classroom because we are checking the effect of temperature on their growth. We write our observations in a calendar and compare findings with our partner - just like a real scientist!

Push or Pull Boats

Today in Science we tested our boats that we had made during the week. Mrs B let us put some finishing touches to our boats then we tested them in a water tray to see if they could move. We could only use a push or pull to get them to move to the end of the water tray. Everyone's boats were a huge success!

Gravity

This week in 2S we have been learning about gravity. Gravity is a force that pulls things to Earth. You can't see gravity, but you can see it working. If you kick a ball up into the air, it will go up for a while, then come back down. Gravity pulls down as we discovered in our Science experiment using a paper clip. Look at the clip above to see what happens when there is no gravity!

Peter, from the Manly RSL, told us some great information about each of the monuments we visited. We all enjoyed a sausage sizzle and a play in the park to finish the excursion.

Graphs

We can represent data in many different ways. We often use graphs as they make it easy to see and understand information. One kind of graph is a column graph which 2S have bee using this week in Maths. We collected class data about the number of people in our family and our eye colour and presented the information using a graph on the floor.

Today in Maths we looked at Capacity. Capacity tells us how much a container holds and is usually measured with a liquid like water, juice or milk. 2S used water and a variety of containers like spoons, cups and icecream containers to measure their capacity. Lots of fun and everyone got a little wet!

A New Class for 2012

This week we have started Maths Groups, Word Study, History, Religion, Literacy Groups and today we are learning about Blogging!
