Sciencentre Excursion

Today the Year 2's travelled by train to the Sciencentre at Southbank. We moved objects with our mind, turned invisible and watched a life-like robot. We got hands-on with everyday science and discovered that Science is everywhere!

Christmas Card Competition Winner

Nicholas from 2S entered a national Christmas card competition recently, and he came 2^nd!  The competition was for 7-12 year olds. Making butter

Today in Science we observed how one of Earth's resources can change and be made into another resource that people can use. We used cream, a container with a lid and lots of shaking to change cream into butter. The best part of the experiment was eating the butter we had made on a cracker.

Rememberance Day

Remembrance Day is on the 11th of November each year and helps us to remember the ending of the First World War  in 1918. Each year Australians observe one minute silence at 11 am on the 11th of November, in memory of
those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts.

Museum Object Reports

Today in class we presented our Museum Object Reports using the Tellagami Ipad App. You can see a photograph of the object from the past and hear some information about it. Play the video below to see what we did!

Coin Challenge

Today we finally got to participate in the coin challenge. The coins we had collected as a class filled two rows but the winning class was 1V with five rows or 33 metres of coins! All the money raised from the coin challenge will go to Catholic Mission and to help Father Frank with his work in Timor.

Grandparents Day

Today at SJV we celebrated Grandparents Day and the special people they are in our lives. We had lots of Grandparents and other special people who came to our classroom to see how we learn and play.

Day for Daniel

Today at SJV we remembered a Day for Daniel. It was a day where we got to wear red and to think about how to keep ourselves safe.

Swimming Lessons

This week 2S start swimming lessons on a Friday morning. We can't wait to dive into the water at Manly Pool and swim, swim and swim!

Our Technology Museum

2S are learning in History how technology has changed over time. To help with our learning we have created a Technology Museum right here in our classroom. Check out the photos to see some of the cool things we have on display.

Back from Holidays

Yesterday all the students from 2S returned from their September holidays. Everybody had a good two week holiday with trips to Thailand, the beach and movies just some of the things that 2S did during the break from school.

3D Science Models

Year 2's created a 3D model out of playdough to finish off our "Watch it Grow" Science Unit. We could choose either a butterfly or a mealworm and show the four stages of growth and change that the insect must go through from egg to adult.
