Book Week
This week at SJV we have celebrated Book Week. The theme for Book Week 2015 was books light up our world. We have visited the Book Fair in the Library, walked in a book character parade and we have read some of the shortlisted books. It has been a great week of reading!

This week in 2S we had a visit from an artist from Raw Art. Phoebe helped us to make moths or butterflies using collage and paint. They look fabulous flying in our room!

Stradbroke Island excursion
2S travelled by water taxi to Stradbroke Island to learn about this beautiful place. We saw a scarred tree (a sacred meeting place), a midden, a place of ongoing fire and we met Matt who could do amazing things like make FIRE!

Be an Anthropologist!
Today Katrina Logan visited our classroom to help us to get ready for our excursion to Stradbroke Island next week. Katrina has invited everyone to become a member of the Quandamooka Anthropology Club but to do this we have to help solve the puzzles of people past and present and to make meaning of history.

Moreton Bay
We have been learning about Moreton Bay in Geography and History. Did you know that the aboriginal name for Moreton Bay is Quandamooka and there are 360 islands in total in the Bay. The islands closest to our school are St Helena Island and Green Island. We can see them both from our school!
